Pavel Odvoby

Pavel Odvoby was born in the Czech Republic in 1953. From 1973 to 1979 he studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University in Prague. Between 1984 and 1990 Odvoby studied design at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences with a focus on photography. His photographs deal with the aspect of light and his light waves seem to act independently. He does not deal with external reality, that is, with the subjective representation of an objective world of things. His aim is to make an inner reality visible. He tries to capture the expressiveness of the human face and the process in which the body is condensed in changing light and moving phases into something like ‚beauty‘. The dwindling contours, the condensation of movements and sequences of movements show us how a body becomes a figure. Odvoby shows us which conditions and prerequisites are necessary to make the visual tangible through contours and reflexes.
