Adele Razkövi

(*1977)

Adele Razkövi was born in Vienna in 1977, lives and works in Lower Austria, Vienna and Andalusia. She works in the fields of drawing, painting, objects and video. Razkövi attended the fashion school in Hetzendorf in Vienna. After completing her apprenticeship examination as a hairdresser and wig maker, she worked as a self-employed make-up artist for film and photography. She studied painting and experimental animation film in the master class of Prof. C. L. Attersee at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. Razkövi attended the „Facultad de bellas artes, Alonso Cano“ in Granada. She has been working as a freelance artist since 2009 and is married to the Spanish painter and draftsman Eduardo Roca.

One of the artist’s central themes is the crowd. It shows people in cramped situations in the big city, in the middle of the rushing traffic or as holidaymakers caught in mass tourism on the beach, where people as herd animals follow predetermined patterns without questioning them. She explores the behavior of humans and animals artistically. For Adele Razkövi, humans are civilized animals, so she does not differentiate between the two types of behavior. Your animated film from 2010, Looking for Love ‘‘ shows a dog as the protagonist, who is filled with longing and goes in search of an orange, the embodiment of sensuality. The dog, a creature in need of love, serves as a metaphor for the human group being, who cannot create a self-image without a dialectical counterpart. The human dog feels a fundamental deficiency, an urge for completeness that is never quite achieved. Love and passion are the mentioned expressions of this necessity. In 2011 she received the prize for the best Austrian animation film at the Tricky Women Festival Vienna for this film.
