Alexandra Uccusic

Alexandra Uccusic, born and living in Vienna, initially studied architecture before devoting herself to the visual arts. Her works combine figuration and abstraction, which characterize the appearance of animal and human figures in quasi-ornamental structures. The artist’s “ladies‘ pictures” depict self-confident, self-assured female figures with echoes of the most diverse eras and cultures. In her animal paintings, she opens up a wide variety of species – especially in times of dwindling biodiversity. In her works, Alexandra Uccusic combines organic forms taken from nature with aspects of formal, sometimes geometric rigor. Intense colors and monochrome ink works complement each other in the artist’s oeuvre.
