Anke Armandi

Identity as well as the exploration of the self and the others are keywords for her work and her disposition. They are not classic watercolours, but elusive surfaces in which the characters of the plot are left out, They are documents of deeper connections that are essential for the artist. In this network, in this cooperation and in the decision to use a classic medium in a contemporary way, lies their biographical and especially their aesthetic meaning.

Anke Armandi was born in Gießen in 1973. She studies at the University of Leipzig, in Vienna at the Academy of Fine Arts in the class of Gunter Damisch and at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice. She has been a member of the Künstlerhaus Wien since 2013 and has been its area coordinator for painting and graphics since 2018.
