Vita:

Maria Moser studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. In 1973 she received her diploma in order to be able to immediately start her Egypt scholarship. After her return, she moved back to her parents‘ city of Frankenburg and devoted herself exclusively to art and lived as a freelance artist. Her work was soon very much appreciated and she was able to look forward to a large number of awards and scholarships. The artist exhibited her paintings in many important cities in Austria, institutions and galleries. Due to the growing interest in her works, presentations on an international level followed, including in Cairo, New York, Washington, Düsseldorf and Frankfurt.

Work:

The work of Maria Moser is unmistakably characterized by the material iron. She primarily represents the bulk of this material in the abstract. Impasto paint applications deepen the perception of the ore. The black she uses stands for inflexibility and violence, red represents fire and heat, green-brownish-violet jobs correspond to rust or dissolution and finally the blue color indicates vulnerability. The intersections and the parallel use of these gradations create mystical feelings and give Maria Moser’s pictures a special aura. The artist does not only concentrate on painting in her work. She found her second passion in sculpture. She creates sculptures out of iron, steel, wood and stone, which she makes even more of her work with painting. The special thing about it is that your pictures can also be created in a three-dimensional medium through these works
